This page explains what happens to your information when you use this website, write to me, join the newsletter or buy something. I have tried to keep it plain.

Who I am

I'm Tunde Godfrey (my full name is Olatunde Godfrey Adewola) and I'm based in Nigeria. I run this website. Under Nigerian data protection law I decide how your information is used, so I'm the one responsible for it. You can reach me at hello@tundegodfrey.com.

What I collect, and why

Messages you send me. The email and Request buttons on this site open your own email app, and the WhatsApp link opens WhatsApp. I only receive what you choose to send. I use it to reply, send a quote, and do the work if you hire me. I delete enquiries that don't lead to work after about a year.

The newsletter. If you subscribe, your email address goes to Substack, which sends the newsletter for me. I can see who has subscribed. I use your address only to send you the newsletter and to tell you when something I've made is ready. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask me to remove you.

Purchases. Books, courses and scores are sold through Selar. Selar takes your payment and your details and delivers the file. I get the order details, such as your name, email and what you bought, so I can help if something goes wrong. I never see your card number.

Coaching and services. If you book a service, I keep what I need to do it: your contact details, what the work is for, and any files you send. For coaching with anyone under 18, I also keep a record that a parent or guardian agreed.

Visits to the site. I use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. It records things like the pages you view, your approximate location, your device and browser, and how you arrived. I use this to improve the site. I don't use it to find out who you are. You can block it with your browser settings or Google's opt-out add-on.

Your country. The Services page checks which country you're visiting from, using your internet address at that moment, so it can show prices in the right region. I don't store the result. If you pick a region yourself, that choice is saved in your own browser so you don't have to pick it again.

Fonts and hosting. The site's fonts load from Google Fonts, so Google receives your internet address and browser details when a page loads. The site is hosted by Netlify, which keeps ordinary server records.

I only show a testimonial or a photo of a named person when I hold their written permission.

Cookies

The pages I built don't set cookies of their own. Google Analytics sets its own cookies to tell visits apart. Substack may set cookies when its sign-up form loads. Selar and Google do the same on their own sites. You can delete or block cookies in your browser at any time, and the site will still work.

Why I'm allowed to use your information

I use it because you asked me to (replying to your message, doing the work you hired me for, delivering what you bought), because you agreed (the newsletter), or because I have a fair reason that doesn't override your interests (counting visits so I can see what is useful, and keeping the site running safely).

Who else handles it

Substack (newsletter), Selar (payments and delivery), Google (analytics and fonts), Netlify (hosting), and the email services I use to receive your messages. They handle your information for the purposes above and under their own privacy terms. Some of them store data outside Nigeria. I don't sell your information, and I don't give it to anyone else for their own marketing.

How long I keep it

Newsletter addresses stay until you unsubscribe. Records of work and purchases stay as long as I need them to support you and to keep my accounts in order. Enquiries that go nowhere are deleted after about a year.

Your rights

You can ask me to show you what I hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it for a particular purpose. If you agreed to something, you can take that back at any time. Write to hello@tundegodfrey.com and I'll reply within a month. If you're not happy with my answer, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. If you live in the UK or the EU, you may have extra rights under the law there.

Children

This site is meant for adults, and for parents and guardians acting for young people. If you're under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before you send me your details or subscribe. If a young person has sent me information without a parent knowing, tell me and I'll delete it.

Changes

If I change this page, I'll update the date at the top. If a change affects something you agreed to, I'll ask you again.
